About Character Counts! Kent County

Mission
Embracing Character Development in All Aspects of Our Lives.

Vision
Community volunteers, known as character coaches, will donate their time and energy, drawing on their commitment and experiences. These volunteers will use these strengths to teach character education lessons in the classrooms to help all children be the best that they can be. We hope that students will internalize the universal values embedded in the six pillars of Character Counts! Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship enabling them to achieve their highest potential in life.

Character Counts! Kent County is an independent non-profit local organization. The local unit is a member of the National Character Counts! organization.

Approximately 120 volunteer character coaches visit over ninety classrooms in the Kent County Public Schools in classes pre-K through grade nine, for fifteen minutes, once a week, to talk about a pillar and a topic from the WINNERS WALK TALL program. This means that over 1,700 Kent County students receive character education lessons each week. Children know the program and enjoy their coaches’ visits.

Please contact Executive Director and Program Development Manager, Mrs. Madhu Sidhu, at 410-778-6684 for any additional information you may need.
