1st ESSAY CONTEST
Pillars: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility,
Fairness, Caring, Citizenship
The basic primer for using the SIX PILLARS of Character Counts! is to make better
decisions and a better life. For instance, trustworthiness and caring rank high as values in
all cultures and societies. If practiced by everyone, these values would benefit us all and
improve the world in which we live.
Elementary Students: Why I like Character Counts!
Middle and High Schools: Must use at least one of the Six Pillars of Character
to help you guide your writing.

Elementary Schools
Grade 2, 3 & 4
Each grade level will have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner
All winners will receive a book and a certificate
Middle Schools
Each grade level will have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winner
1st prize $200.00 Bond
2nd prize $100 Bond
3rd prize $75 Bond
High Schools
Each grade level will have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winner
1st prize $100.00 Cash
2nd prize $75.00 Cash
3rd prize $50.00 Cash
