“Where’s Ray” A Fundraising Campaign
June 22, 2009
Week 1 - Astoria, Oregon
Mr. Ray Tarrach dipped the back wheel of his bike in the Pacific Ocean at 10:00 AM, June 21, in Astoria, Oregon thus beginning the “Where’s Ray” bicycle ride across America. Over the course of this this week, he is riding through the towns of St. Helens, Welches, Kah-Nee-Ta and Prineville. Over the first five days he will have covered 269 miles.
Character Counts! Kent County is delighted to share the details of Ray’s journey with everyone. We encourage the entire community to rally its support for Mr. Tarrach’s efforts. Parents especially should involve their children in this exciting trip. Mr. Tarrach’s example demonstrates the value of trustworthiness. He is committed to persevering over the next six weeks. He knows that his family, his friends, and Kent County Public School students are relying on him to do his best on this difficult ride.
Over the next six weeks, Ray will ride across ten states and Canada. We can all support Ray, and follow his ride through the summer by going to www.cckentmd.org or listening to WCTR 1530 FM on Wednesday mornings at 7:45 AM. The total miles to be accomplished are 3,639. He has 3,370 miles remaining.
Ray is undertaking this ride to support Character Counts! Kent County. Please consider donating $20 to Character Counts! Kent County. Your $20 gift will provide character education lessons for one student for an entire school year. Our goal is to provide these lessons for 1,700 students. Donations by check can be mailed to Character Counts! Kent County, 215 Washington Avenue, Chestertown, MD 21620, or visit www.cckentmd.org to donate on line. Go Ray!
