“Where’s Ray” A Fundraising Campaign
July 13, 2009
Week 4 – Wyoming to South Dakota
As of July 13, 2009, Mr. Ray Tarrach has completed 22 of his 50-day fundraising bicycle ride for the benefit of Character Counts! Kent County. To date he has traveled 1,593 miles through four states: Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, and now South Dakota. Our non-profit organization is pleased to share another update discussing his journey.
Mr. Tarrach entered South Dakota on July 12, 2009. The past days riding through Wyoming: Jackson (89 mi), Dubois (88 mi), Riverton (79 mi), Casper (120 mi) were wonderful! Ray expressed that the 120 mile ride on July 10 was quite challenging. Fortunately, the schedule had a rest day in Casper on July 11. The next day, Ray began a trek through Lusk (105 mi), WY. He entered South Dakota by riding into Hot Springs (93 mi) and today onto Rapid City (77 mi). Ray will see Mt. Rushmore during the ride today.
In the most recent “Daily Team Journal” postings, Mr. Tarrach is featured in Post 16. He is in photo #6, shown riding his bike. He is the rider in the middle of the group.
By July 16, Ray will have traveled 1,857 miles, with 1,782 miles remaining. Ray crosses the half mark on July 16! Especially challenging this week will be July 15 through Pierre. That day will feature a climb of 3,720 feet.
This week, Mr. Tarrach’s demonstrates the Pillar of Fairness. In order to be fair to others, Ray has followed the rules of the organizers of the bike ride. As promised, he has shared his experiences with all of us on a regular basis. Other examples of his fairness include listening to his fellow riders and not blaming others when something did not go right like that flat tire he repaired.
Ray is generously riding to support Character Counts! Kent County. Please consider donating $20 to Character Counts! Kent County. Your $20 gift will provide character education lessons for one student for an entire school year. Our goal is to provide these lessons for 1,700 students. Donations by check can be mailed to Character Counts! Kent County, 215 Washington Avenue, Chestertown, MD 21620, or you can visit www.cckentmd.org to donate on-line.
