Character Counts! Kent County, an independent non-profit is the leading character education program in our local schools and community. The organization provides educational tools and support to community members who desire to make a difference in the lives of children in their schools and communities. This is an educational program with a curriculum that teaches values such as Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship.
Weekly, Volunteer Character Coaches visit all Kent County Public School classrooms in grades pre-K through 9th. These dedicated individuals teach lessons that reflect one or more of the six pillars. The strength of the program lies in the work of the volunteer character coaches. The success of the coaches' efforts will result from the demonstrative support from teachers, school staff members in the schools and parent involvement at home. Currently the program has approximately 120 character coaches in over 90 classrooms.
